Third Annual Festival of Native American Film

The Festival of Native American Film provides a venue for feature films, shorts, videos and documentaries of USA American Indian and Canada First Nation communities. We often include feature films by indigenous people of other countries.

Public screenings and events will be held for three days, from September 28 through 30, 2012, in Camp Verde, Arizona. All programs are open to the public and will require tickets for admission. The film selections and show location times will be announced by June 1.

The Festival will include a Native American Arts & Crafts Show adjacent to the Film venue on Septebmer 29 and 30.


Call for Entries:
The Festival of Native American Film offers a high profile, prestigious and non-competitive environment perfect for celebrating the best in independent Indigenous films. We accept short and feature length films and videos in the following categories: narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, children’s films and youth produced.

Eligible Work: We accept features and shorts, narratives, documentaries, animation, video art, experimental film and new media. There are also programs for children's films and youth produced work. Films/videos must have been completed within 18 months of festival dates (after March 1, 2011).

Submission deadline: June 1, 2012 (exceptions can be made for works-in-progress as long as the finished product is available by August 1. Complete application and provide expected finish date.)

Submission fee: Free. Submissions will not be returned unless a postage-paid mailer is included.

Formats: DVD. Other digital formats may be available. If your film has been selected for exhibition and is not available on DVD, please contact us at center@verdevalleyarchaeology.org.

Rental Fees: We do not pay rental fees. Instead, our resources are invested in the production and promotion of the best possible showcase for your work.

Awards: This is a non-competitive festival, however, we do recognize audience favorites for documentary, narrative and children's feature films.

Updates of Submissions: You may send an updated version of a film that has already been submitted, however, depending on where the film is in our selection process, we cannot guarantee that the newer version will be screened. If sending an updated version, please reference the film title and indicate “updated screener” on the outside of your envelope.

Notification: Filmmakers will be notified via email of entry status by the first week of July 2012.
